PROCLAMATION
NO. 2015-18
WHEREAS career and technical education offers students the opportunity to gain
the academic, technical and employability skills necessary for true
career readiness; and
WHEREAS students in career and technical education programs participate in
authentic, meaningful experiences and career exploration
opportunities earlier in their education experience, preparing them to
attain industry-recognized credentials ; and
WHEREAS leaders from business and industry nationwide report increasing
challenges related to the skills gap and connecting qualified
professionals with available careers in critical and growing CTE-
related fields, including healthcare, energy, advanced manufacturing
and information technology; and
WHEREAS tonight we are proud to recognize that Huntsville Independent School
District supports an excellent Career and Technology Education
Program, offering fifteen of the sixteen Career Clusters recognized by
the Texas Education Agency.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in
me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:

be declared: Career & Technical
Education Month
in the city of Huntsville, and encourage all citizens to support ensuring that
employers have access to a qualified workforce to aid America’s economic
growth and global competitiveness.
