PROCLAMATION
No. 2014-48
WHEREAS the Huntsville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary was formed in 1956 and had a
small snack bar at the former hospital location; and
WHEREAS the HMH Gift Shop was established in 1979, when the current building
opened; and
WHEREAS the shop provides hospital visitors, patients, and employees with items such
as candy, sundries, collectibles, toiletries, and baby gifts, including unique
baby door ribbons created by a hospital volunteer to celebrate new lives
welcomed here; and
WHEREAS this week acknowledges the long service of the gift shop employees and the
special assistance and amenities the gift shop has provided to its countless
guests.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in
me as the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, that
July 23, 2014
be designated as: HMH Gift Shop Day

in Huntsville, Texas, and urge all citizens to celebrate the 35 anniversary of this
special part of our community.
