PROCLAMATION
NO. 2014-43
WHEREAS the conferring of the designation of Eagle Scout is one of the highest awards
that can be bestowed upon a Boy Scout as it requires years of dedication and
commitment to achieve, since Eagle Scouts act as leaders and role models in
the community; and
WHEREAS Alexander True Norman began scouting at age six as a Tiger Cub and
progressed through Wolf, Bear, and Webelos Ranks, also earning his Arrow
of Light while a Cub Scout; and
WHEREAS he joined Troop 97 at age 11, earning 25 merit badges and serving as
Quartermaster and Troop Librarian in his seven years with them; and
WHEREAS Alex’s Eagle Scout Project was to assemble and install cabinets, counters and
shelving in the religious education classroom of Thoreau Woods Unitarian
Universalist Church; and
WHEREAS the City of Huntsville is proud of Alex True, as he exemplifies the values that
make a community strong.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in
me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
May 18, 2014
be declared: Alexander True Norman Day
in the City of Huntsville and call upon our citizens to join in the celebration of this
achievement and acknowledge his special contributions to our community.
