WHEREAS The City d .wires to devi Zo viable community fort all citizens:in time of disaster, as well
as provide for `those vi zees displaced to Huntsville. The 'City of Huntsville requires
these generators to provide fat up'to a llb :increase hi population in time of evacuation,
and
WHEREAS It is necessary and in the best interest of the City to apply for funding under the 2009
Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP).
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that
Section 1: A(n) HMGP application iss= :hereby authorized to be filed on behalf of the City and be; placed
in competition for funding udder the Hazard Mitigation Grant Prograft,
Section 2: The .application will be for $971,992:86 of grant funds to install emergency, generators
throughout Huntsville water wells and our Palm Street Water plant.
Section. 3: 'The: City shall contribute $242,998.21 (25 %) in the farm �f cash match for the purpose of
purchasing generators.
Section 4: The Mayor and City Council strongly support tins application to address the emergency
energy needs of the community.
Section 5: The City Council directs ;and designates: the City Manager, Bill Baine, as the ;City's Chief
Executive O f ber and Authorized Representative to actin all matters in connection with this application
and the City's participation in the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.
