A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF' APPLICATION TO TTIE ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT AGENCY, DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, FOR THE STATE
HIGHWAY 19 DESGING ANDENGINE ERING STUDY; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ACT AS THE CITY'S EXECUTIVE ,,OFnCFR AND AUTHORIZED
REPRESENTATIVE IN AIL MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE CITY'S PARTICIPATION
IN THE SUPPLEMENTAL DISASTER RELIEF GRANT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS The City> desires to develop aviable community for all ,citizens, and the current status of
State Highway :1 9 represents a threat to the safety of the citizens-of Huntsville, citizens of
surrounding areas and citizens accessing Highway 19 concerning emergency evacuation;
and
WHEREAS It is necessary :and in' the best interest of the City to apply for ftmding, under the 2009
Second Supplemental Appropriations Disaster Refief6pportunity.
NOW, TJREIWFORE be it resolved by the City Council. of the City otHuntsville, Texas, that:
Section 1: A federal application is -hereby authorized to be. filed on behalf of the City and be placed in
competition for funding under the Second. Supplemental Disaster Relief Opportunity Grant Program.
Section 2,: The "application will be for $2,000,000 of grant funds to design and/or implement the
Highway 49 Design and Engineering Study.
Section 3: The City shall contribute $400,000 (20%0), in the farm of cash and/or in-kind match for- the
purpose of labor, renovation and/or disposal of waste forvornpletion, of the project Walker County has
agreed to provide 33% of the match contribution.
Section 4: The Mayor and City Council strongly supportthis application to address the safety needs of
Huntsville, surrounding areas and communities accessing State Highway 19 in time of emergency.
Section 5: The,,City Council directs and designates the City Manager as the City's 'Chief Executive
Officer and authorized representative to actin all matters in connection with this application and the
City's participation in the Second Supplemental Appropriations Disaster Relief Opportunity..
