Proc. 2014-16 Tamara Chasteen Day 02-20-14 PROCLAMATION NO. 2014-16 WHEREAS Huntsville and Walker County have realized an enriched quality of life due to the tireless volunteer work of local artist and craftsperson Tamara Chasteen; and WHEREAS events and programs such as the Sam Houston Folk Festival; Sam Houston Weavers and Spinners Guild; Festival Inspiracion; Empty Bowls; Wynne Home Open Studio days, seasonal programming, and elementary school visits; Huntsville’s Promise; All the Colors of Huntsville; HISD Enrichment Day; and the Huntsville Arts Commission (just to name a few) have all benefitted enormously from Tamara’s participation; and WHEREAS Tamara also has a positive impact on the youth of the area through her demonstration and instruction, encouragement, and efforts to create and fund new programs, many of which are provided primarily for children and teens; and WHEREAS there were many deserving nominees this year, highlighting Tamara Chasteen’s exceptional example as a volunteer and advocate for our community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that: February 20, 2014 be declared: “Tamara Chasteen Day” in the City of Huntsville, and encourage all citizens to recognize Tamara Chasteen’s contributions to make our lives more colorful, creative, and fulfilling. th PROCLAIMED AND SIGNED this the 20 day of February 2014. ____ __________________ Mac Woodward, Mayor
