ORD CC 05/14/74 - Commercial garbage collectionORDINANCE N0. 74 ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, BY AUTHORIZING THE CITY SANITATION DEPARTMENT, SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE CITY COUNCIL, TO PRESCRIBE THE REGULATIONS FOR COLLECTION OF REFUSE AND GARBAGE FROM PRIVATE AND COMMERCIAL PREMISES, BY ESTABLISHING COLLECTION CHARGES AND PROVIDING FOR CHANGE OF SAME BY RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY.O$ HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, THAT CHAPTER 9 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, BE AMENDED BY AMENDING SECTIONS 9 -2 AND 9-4 THEREOF AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: Section 9 -2 and Section 9 -4, of Chapter 9 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Huntsville shall hereafter read as follows: Section 9 -2: Containers - required; No owner or Lessee of any public or private premises shall permit to accumulate upon his premises any garbage or refuse except in containers approved by the City Council of the City of Huntsville upon recommendation of the City Sanitation Department. Containers for residential and commercial premises shall be of a type determined to be proper for the general category of the premises to be served, either residential or commercial. Collection of refuse and garbage shall be at such times and at such points of pick up as may be approved, from time to time, by the City Council of the City of Huntsville. Section 9 -4: Collection charges - prescribed; ' There shall be charged, assessed and collected from the owner or occupants of each residential unit within the City, including private residences, apartments, and mobile homes, and from commercial or business houses, such charges for refuse and garbage collection services as may be determined from time to time by the City . Council of the City of Huntsville. Section 2: The within ordinance shall become effective immediately upon passage.
