ORD CC 10/05/65 - Granting HISD AnnexationAN ORDINANCE GRANTING THE PETITION OF HUNTSVILLE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT TO ANNEX CERTAIN LANDS CONTIGUOUS AND ADJACENT TO THE EAST BOUNDARY LINE OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE IN WALKER COUNTY, TEXAS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS: WHEREAS, by petition of the Huntsville Independent School District duly filed herein for more than five days and less than thirty days, for the annexation of certan land having less than three qualified voters, solely owned by the Huntsville Independent School District and which petition is hereby granted. Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that the land situated in Walker County, Texas, adjacent and contiguous to the City Limits of the City of Huntsville, Texas, described as follows: BEGINNING on the east boundary line of the City Limits of the City of Huntsville, Texas, at the center line of Old Colony Road as it intersects the north boundary line of U. S. Highway No. 190: THENCE following the center line of Old Colony Road with the abutting property of the Huntsville Independent School District land, easterly as the abutting property line is described as follows: BEGINNING east at 10C feet from the intersection of the Old Colony Road and U. S. Highway No. 190, also being the northwest corner of a 1.83 acre tract of School property; THENCE S 82° E with Old Colony Road and the north line of the School property, 247.8 feet to a stake in said 1.83 acre tract; THENCE north 10 feet with said lines, stake for corner; THENCE N 85° E with said line, 156.7 feet to stake in said lines; THENCE N 74° E with said lines 386.7 feet to a stake in said lines; THENCE N 88° 30' E with said lines, 306.4 feet to stake for corner at northeast corner of a 9 acre School tract; THENCE N 88° 30' crossing a 60 foot private road dividing the Huntsville Independent School District property to a stake for corner in the south line of Old Colony Road and north boundary line of the School property; THENCE south with an extension of the School property east line to the northwest corner of a 1 /4th acre tract belonging to Joitt :,1 -Le Mae Johnson at a northeast corner of the School property; THENCE continuing south 124.2 feet with the west line of said Johnson tract, and the east line of the School tract to the south- west corner of the Johnson tract; THENCE east 132 feet with the south line of said Johnson tract and a 1 /4th acre tract belonging to the St. James Lodge and the north line of the School tract to stake for corner; THENCE south 1$6 feet to corner in Gulf States Utilities Company right -of -way line; THENCE N 61° E 373 feet to northeast corner of said School property, and being also the northwest corner of a Gibbs Brothers & Company tract; THENCE south 1048 feet to the southeast corner of the Hunts- ville Independent School District property at a concrete monument on the north bank of a large branch for southeast corner of said School property; THENCE in a westerly said north bank of branch point on the east side of for corner; direction following the meanders of in all, 834 feet, more or less, to a a private road above mentioned, stake THENCE south with the east line of said road and the west line of Gibbs Brothers & Company tract, 142 feet to the north line of U. S. Highway No. 190, at the southeast oorner of the School pffperty, and confining to the center line of said U. S. Highway No. 190; THENCE N 53° 30' W following the center line of U. S. High- way No. 190, abutting the south line of Huntsville Independent School District line to intersect the east line of the present City Limits of the City of Huntsville; THENCE north with said east City Limit line to the place of beginning; said boundary including 26.21 acres of land belonging to the Huntsville Independent School District, plus to the Center line of Old Colony Road on its north and the center line of U. S. Highway No. 190, abutting the School property along its southwest boundary line; be and it is decreed that said petition is granted and said territory above described is received and hereby annexed as a part of the City of Huntsville, Texas.
