RESOLUTION NO. 2010-05 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF THE SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOLS GRANT TO THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR SIDEWALKS; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT AS THE CITY'S EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE IN ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN THE SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOLS GRANT PROGRAM. WHEREAS The City desires to ensure the safety of all it citizens; and WHEREAS It is necessary and in the best interest of the City to apply for funding under the 2010 Safe Routes to School Program. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that: SECTION 1: Safe Routes to School applications are hereby authorized to be filed on behalf of the City and be placed in competition for funding to the Texas Department of Transportation. SECTION 2: The applications will total no more than $1,000,000 of grant funds to construct sidewalks in school locations. SECTION 3: The Mayor and City Council strongly support this application to address the safety needs of the Community. • SECTION 4: The City Council directs and designates the City Manager, Bill Baine, as the City's Chief Executive Officer and Authorized Representative to act in all matters in connection with these applications and the City's participation in the Safe Routes to Schools Program.
