Proc. 2015-04 2014 Walker County Heart Walk Day 09-27-14
PROCLAMATION
No. 2015-04
WHEREAS the American Heart Association has spent more than $3.5 billion
since 1949 on research to increase knowledge about cardiovascular
disease and stroke; and
WHEREAS the organization has set a ten-year goal to improve the
cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing
deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent, by the
year 2020; and
WHEREAS currently diseases of the heart are the number one cause of death in
America, and stroke is the number four cause of death; and
WHEREAS the Heart Walk brings together individuals, businesses and
organizations to take steps to educate the public and raise awareness
about these serious health concerns.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the
power vested in me as the Mayor of the City of Huntsville,
that
September 27, 2014
be designated as:
2014 Walker County Heart Walk Day
in Huntsville, Texas, and urge all citizens to learn more about their health
and the health of their loved ones.
