PROCLAMATION
NO. 2013-26
WHEREAS experience has taught that government by itself cannot solve all of our
nation’s issues and that the giving of oneself in service to another
empowers both the giver and the recipient; and
WHEREAS volunteers are vital to our future as a caring and productive nation, and
can inspire and mobilize citizens to take action that changes the world
and makes a difference in our community; and
WHEREAS volunteers with the City of Huntsville serve on boards, commissions,
and committees, make arts and entertainments programs possible,
keep the Wynne Home and Sam Houston Statue welcoming and
accessible, and help with cleanups, tutoring, and numerous other
programs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me
as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
April 21-27, 2013
be declared: “National Volunteer Week”
in the City of Huntsville, and encourage all citizens to celebrate the value of
volunteering. By recognizing those who serve, we replace disconnection with
understanding and compassion.
