Proc. 2013-35 Good Shepherd Mission Day 04-25-13
PROCLAMATION
NO. 2013-35
WHEREAS the Good Shepherd Mission was established in 1983 by the
Ministerial Alliance, becoming the only food bank in Walker
County; and
WHEREAS the Mission provides food, a clothing and necessity furniture
bank, a twice-daily meal site, and temporary lodging for men,
women, and families; and
WHEREAS the Good Shepherd Mission collaborates with Sam Houston State
University to offer Christian counseling and guidance; and
WHEREAS with only local funding, the Mission serves over 250 meals each
week and lodged 928 people in the last month alone; and
WHEREAS for 30 years, the Mission has benefitted from the dedication of
long-term volunteers, local leaders and donors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power
vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
April 25, 2013
be declared: GOOD SHEPHERD MISSION DAY
in the City of Huntsville and call upon our citizens to join in the acknowledgement
and appreciation of all those who have contributed to this invaluable program.
