PROCLAMATION
No. 2013-39
WHEREAS small businesses employ more than half the country’s private
workforce, create three of every four new jobs and generate a majority
of American innovations; and
WHEREAS Small Business Week recognizes outstanding small business owners for
their personal achievements and contributions to our nation’s
economy; and
WHEREAS this year’s celebration will honor an estimated 25 million small
businesses in America. The latest figures show that small businesses
create 75 percent of the net new jobs in our economy and small
businesses make up more than 99.7% of all employers; and
WHEREAS each year, the President of the United States issues a proclamation
calling for the celebration of Small Business Week; and
WHEREAS National Small Business Week is sponsored annually by the Small
Business Administration and is being celebrated nationally during the
week of May 20-24, 2013.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as
the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that:
MAY 23, 2013
be declared:
“SMALL BUSINESS APPRECIATION DAY”
in Huntsville, Texas, and encourage citizens to recognize, visit and do business
with all of our local small businesses.
