PROCLAMATION
NO. 2013-42
WHEREAS the conferring of an Eagle Scout is one of the highest awards that can
be bestowed upon a Boy Scout; and
WHEREAS years of dedication and commitment are required to achieve Eagle
rank, as Eagle Scouts act as leaders and role models in the
community; and
WHEREAS Douglas Vaughn Sanchez has devoted seven years to Scouting,
during which he was a member of four different scouting units and
earned 29 merit badges; and
WHEREAS Douglas completed his Eagle Scout Project benefitting the Conroe
Animal Shelter, spending over 93 hours recruiting volunteers and
collecting more than 1,000 pounds of animal food; and
WHEREAS the city of Huntsville is proud of Douglas Vaughn Sanchez, as he
exemplifies the values that make a community strong.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as
Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
May 19, 2013
be declared: “Douglas Vaughn Sanchez Day”
in the city of Huntsville and call upon our citizens to join in the celebration of his
achievement and acknowledge his special contributions to our community.
