PROCLAMATION
NO. 2012-18
WHEREAS the conferring of an Eagle Scout is one of the highest awards that can be
bestowed upon a Boy Scout; and
WHEREAS John Neville and Stan Smith of Huntsville, best friends since they were
five years old, began their Scouting experience in 2007; and
WHEREAS both young men completed their Eagle Scout projects at First United
Methodist Church, with John refurbishing a church sign and the
surrounding flower bed, and Stan making two benches and placing them
in front of the church for a prayer area; and
WHEREAS both John and Stan are highly involved with the church, participating in
Youth activities, Youth band, and Praise band; and
WHEREAS the City of Huntsville is proud of John Neville and Stan Smith as they
exemplify the values that make a community strong.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me
as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
February 18, 2012
be declared: “John Neville and Stan Smith Day”
in the City of Huntsville and call upon our citizens to join in the celebration of their
achievements and special contributions to our community.
