PROCLAMATION
NO. 2012-19
WHEREAS the Sam Houston State University Bearkats are the undisputed 2011
Southland Conference Champions and were the only undefeated team
in the Football Championship Subdivision; and
WHEREAS the Bearkats successfully won three 2011 NCAA Division I Football
Championship playoff games to make it to the final in Frisco; and
WHEREAS the success of a University football program requires the tireless
effort and dedication of not only its players, but of its coaches, athletic
directors, parents, alumni, and community;
WHEREAS the City of Huntsville honors this feat and asks that all members of
our community celebrate this special achievement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me
as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
February 8, 2012
be declared:
“Bearkat Pride Day”
in the City of Huntsville, and call upon our citizens to show their spirit in support of the Sam
Houston State University Bearkats throughout this year.
