Proc. 2012-37 SHSU Spirit Programs Day 04-28-12
PROCLAMATION
NO. 2012-37
WHEREAS The SHSU Spirit Program includes four distinct teams, the All Girl
Cheerleading Squad, the Co-Ed Cheerleading Squad, the Orange Pride
Dance Team and the ‘Sammy the Bearkat’ Mascot Program; and
WHEREAS All four teams recently attended the NCA/NDA National Cheer &
Dance Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida from April 11-15th;
and
WHEREAS The Orange Pride Dance Team won the National Championship in the
Dance Open Division 1 - their third consecutive National
Championship - as well as receiving the highest score over all other
divisions; and
WHEREAS The Co-Ed Cheerleading Squad won the National Championship in
Cheer Division 1, besting seven-time consecutive National Champion
Stephen F. Austin State University their first time in the particular
competition; and
WHEREAS the City of Huntsville honors these feats and asks that all members of
our community celebrate these special achievements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me
as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
April 28, 2012
be declared:
“SHSU Spirit Programs Day”
in the City of Huntsville, and call upon our citizens to show their spirit in support of the Sam
Houston State University Bearkats throughout this year.
