Proc. 2013-01 Jonah Collier Day 10-06-12 PROCLAMATION NO. 2013-01 WHEREAS the conferring of the designation of Eagle Scout is one of the highest awards that can be bestowed upon a Boy Scout as it requires years of dedication and commitment to achieve, since Eagle Scouts act as leaders and role models in the community; and WHEREAS Jonah Collier started his Scouting experience in first grade as a Tiger Cub and received his Arrow of Light in 2007; and WHEREAS Jonah has also held many leadership positions in Scouting, including Den Chief, Patrol Leader, Senior Assistant Patrol Leader, and Chaplain Aide, and is a member of the Order of the Arrow; and WHEREAS Jonah’s religious community has been very important to him as well, as he is a member of the Elkins Lake Baptist Church Youth Group and Vacation Bible School and participates in IMPACT Huntsville; and WHEREAS the City of Huntsville is proud of Jonah Collier as he exemplifies the values that make a community strong; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that: October 6, 2012 be declared: “Jonah Collier Day” in the City of Huntsville and call upon our citizens to join in the celebration of this achievement and acknowledge his special contributions to our community.
