Proc. 2012-10 The Year of the Huntsville Hornet Military Marching Band 2011
PROCLAMATION
NO. 2012-10
WHEREAS the Huntsville High School “Huntsville Hornet Military Marching Band”
performs for thousands each year, giving students the opportunity to
participate in nine performing arrangements while instilling the
highest standard of musical and marching excellence; and
WHEREAS the students consistently place in UIL Region, Area, and All-State
st
Bands, earn an average of 200 1 division medals each year at the UIL
Solo and Ensemble Contests, and compete annually at the Texas State
Solo and Ensemble Contest; and
th
WHEREAS on October 14, 2011, the 188 members of the band received the 7
st
consecutive 1 division marching scores; and
th
WHEREAS the 2011-2012 school year is the 75 year of the Huntsville High School
band program, carrying forward the tradition of military marching,
teaching skills such as cooperation, goal-setting, self-discipline, and
pride in a job well done.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me
as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:

be declared:
“The Year of the Huntsville Hornet
Military Marching Band”
in the City of Huntsville, and call upon our citizens to commend the directors and members
of this fine organization on their recent success and ongoing contributions to the youth of our
community.
