PROCLAMATION
NO. 2011-45
WHEREAS across this nation we remember the shocking and horrific events that took place ten
years ago today, taking the lives of so many, not the least of whom were the brave
men and women first responding to the call for aid ; and
WHEREAS first responders are the first line of assistance for the citizens of Huntsville in times
of need; and
WHEREAS our first responders are available to protect and aid our citizens 24 hours a day;
and
WHEREAS first responders perform their duties as police officers, firefighters, EMS, and EMC
technicians and other capacities without concern for their individual safety; and
WHEREAS it is critical, especially on this historic day, that we resolve never to take for granted
or minimize their sacrifices.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as
Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
September 11, 2011
be declared: “First Responders Day”
in the City of Huntsville, and call upon our citizens to join in the celebration of the
special contributions to our community by these individuals.
