Proc. 2014-13 2013 Walker County Heart Walk Day 11-16-13
PROCLAMATION
No. 2014-13
WHEREAS the American Heart Association has spent more than $3.5 billion on
research to increase knowledge about cardiovascular disease and stroke,
and
WHEREAS the organization has set a ten-year goal to improve the cardiovascular
health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from
cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent, by the year 2020; and
WHEREAS currently diseases of the heart are the number one cause of death in
America, and stroke is the number four cause of death; and
WHEREAS the Heart Walk brings together individuals, businesses and organizations to
take steps to educate the public and raise awareness about these serious
health concerns.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in
me as the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, that
November 16, 2013
be designated as:
“2013 Walker County Heart Walk Day”
in Huntsville, Texas, and urge all citizens to learn more about their
health and the health of their loved ones.
