Proc. 2016-51 - United States Olympic Women’s Artistic Gymnastics PROCLAMATION NO. 2016-51 WHEREAS the United States Olympic Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Team will represent the United States in women’s gymnastics at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil; and WHEREAS these Olympic team members compete internationally, integrating gymnastics skills with dance elements; and WHEREAS the gymnasts who will represent as Team USA include Simone Biles of Spring, Texas; Aly Raisman of Needham, Massachusetts; Laurie Hernandez of Old Bridge Township, New Jersey; Gabby Douglas of Los Angeles, California; and Madison Kocian of Dallas, Texas; with Ashton Locklear of Hamlet, North Carolina; Ragan Smith of Lewisville, Texas; and MyKayla Skinner of Gilbert, Arizona serving as the three replacement athletes; WHEREAS the team, led by an unequaled coaching team including the incomparable Marta Karolyi, trains at the U.S. National Team Training Center at Karolyi Ranch in Huntsville, Texas, and will compete during the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, held August 5 through August 21, 2016. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that: July 22, 2016 be declared: United States 2016 Olympic Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Team Day in the City of Huntsville, and wish to extend both congratulations and best wishes to this talented group of individuals.
