PROCLAMATION
NO. 2016-46
WHEREAS Sam Houston’s NCAA Division I Baseball team has qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the seventh time in ten years; and
WHEREAS for the first time since joining the Southland Conference in 1988, Sam Houston State baseball won the league’s regular season and tournament championship in the same season;
and
WHEREAS this season the team won 40 plus games for the third time in five seasons; and
WHEREAS with 26 newcomers, including 19 freshmen, the team overcame all odds, winning the Southland Conference regular season championship outright on the season’s final day, by winning
23 of its last 26 league games.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:

in the City of Huntsville and call upon our citizens to join in the celebration of the success of these students and coaches.
