Proc. 2016-23 - Mac Woodward, Citizen of the Year - 2-16 PROCLAMATION NO. 2016-23 WHEREAS although his service to the City of Huntsville, as Mayor, Councilmember, board member, and volunteer has been lengthy and broad enough alone to earn him recognition as Citizen of the Year; and WHEREAS he has additionally aided such organizations as Gibbs Brothers & Company, the Methodist Retirement Community, the Boys and Girls Club of Walker County, the Huntsville Rotary Club, First United Methodist Church, SHSU, Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Sons of the Republic of Texas, just to name a few; and WHEREAS his knowledge and experience have been acknowledged with awards including Preservationist of the Year, Head Start Volunteer Award, Roxie Douglas Scholarship Foundation Humanitarian Award, Boys and Girls Club Helping Hand Award, and HEARTS Museum Unsung Heroes Award for Deeds Unseen Award, again, being only a few among the many; and WHEREAS in spite of it all he remains so very modest and humble, seeking always to put the spotlight on others or to perform needed good deeds without recognition or publicity, especially the youth of our community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that: February 25, 2016 be declared: Mac Woodward Day in the City of Huntsville, and encourage all citizens to recognize Mac Woodward’s contributions to make Huntsville a better place to live through his service and dedication.
