PROCLAMATION
No. 2018-38
WHEREAS the American Payroll Association represents 28.3 million residents and 579,168 businesses in the great state of Texas, and the payroll professionals who support the American
system by paying wages, reporting worker earnings, and withholding federal employment taxes; and
WHEREAS payroll professionals in the City of Huntsville, Texas, play a key role in maintaining the economic health of the City, carrying out diverse tasks; and
WHEREAS payroll departments collectively comply with myriad federal and state wage and tax laws and play an increasingly important role ensuring the economic security of America; and
WHEREAS this week celebrates the unique partnership among America’s workers, their companies, the payroll professionals who pay them and critical government programs such as social security,
Medicare, fair labor standards, and child support. Together, through payroll withholding, they contribute and collect more than half of all U.S. Treasury revenue.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that

be designated as: NATIONAL PAYROLL WEEK
in Huntsville, Texas, and urge all citizens to participate in observance of this year’s theme of “America Works because we are Working for America.”
