Proc. 2018-34 - Reverend Ellen Willett Day, 6-21-18 PROCLAMATION No. 2018-34 WHEREAS Reverend Ellen Willett has been a special part of Huntsville since 1976, raising her family and serving as a support for those in need; and WHEREAS she has held successively more involved roles with First United Methodist Church for over 40 years, culminating in her position as Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Missions; and WHEREAS Rev. Willett has for many seasons taken an active part in the progress of the Huntsville Arts Commission, the Senior Center, the Community Organization for Missionary Endeavor (COME), Meals on Wheels, Relay for Life, and FUMC’s sponsorship at Mance Park Middle School through the Chamber’s Promoting Our Positives Committee; and WHEREAS now she is very deservedly going to relish this next stage of life to enjoy time with her husband Jim, her daughter Ellen, and her granddaughter, and to reflect on the many who have been uplifted, regained hope, and seen the true light of service and friendship as a result of Ellen’s ministrations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that: JUNE 21, 2018 be declared: REVEREND ELLEN WILLETT DAY in Huntsville, Texas, and encourage citizens to join us in showing Ellen our sincere appreciation for all she has contributed to our community and our lives.
