Proc. 2018-16 - Heroines of Jericho Day, 3-25-2018 PROCLAMATION NO. 2018-16 WHEREAS the Heroines of Jericho was founded 134 years ago on the principles of friendship, honor, and love, as an androgynous degree conferred in America on Royal Arch Masons, their wives, mothers, sisters, and daughters; and WHEREAS the Walker County Court is governed by the rules and bylaws of the Grand High Court Prince Hall Affiliation of Texas and its jurisdiction. It is known as Cuney Court #231 has been serving Walker County for over 50 years; and WHEREAS each chapter is responsible for serving their community, and the Cuney Court #231 does community service, provides financial assistance to the elderly, mentors women in the community, and assists with the annual Barbara Wiggs Fun Day in the Park; and WHEREAS each year, Heroines of Jericho across the globe celebrate Palm Sunday, and this year Cuney Court #231 does so under the direction of its officers, Most Ancient Matron Elizabeth White, Senior Matron Allyson E. Kelly, Junior Matron Cassandra McNeil, Worshipful Joshua Akbar N. Shabazz, Past Most Ancient Matrons Mattie Walker and La'Turngla Martin Conchola. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that: March 25, 2018 be declared: Heroines of Jericho Cuney Court #231 Day in the City of Huntsville, and encourage all citizens to join in the celebration of the work of this organization throughout our community.
