Proc. 2018-07 - Veterans Day - 11-10-17 PROCLAMATION No. 2018-07 WHEREAS one of the greatest pleasures of freedom is to honor our armed forces veterans who have sacrificed and at times paid the ultimate price for our freedom; and WHEREAS the City of Huntsville, along with millions of other Americans, recognizes and respects the veterans in our community and nationwide for their many sacrifices and contributions to our freedom and security; and WHEREAS in 1975, Congress voted to make November 11, Veterans Day, in honor of those veterans, living and dead, who served in the armed forces; and WHEREAS we gather today to remember and pay homage to our military community, both active and inactive, for their contribution, dedication, and commitment to the cause of freedom for us all. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, that NOVEMBER 10, 2017 be designated as: VETERANS DAY in Huntsville, Texas, and urge all citizens to salute and give special honor to those men and women who served us in the armed forces.
