Proc. 2017-21 - Dakota Giddens Eagle Scout Day - 3-4-17 PROCLAMATION No. 2017-21 WHEREAS the conferring of the designation of Eagle Scout is one of the highest awards that can be bestowed upon a Boy Scout as it requires years of dedication and commitment to achieve, since Eagle Scouts act as leaders and role models in the community; and WHEREAS Dakota Giddens began scouting in 2005 and completed Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos Ranks I and II, before crossing over to become a Boy Scout in 2010; and WHEREAS Dakota is a member of Troop 114, and has earned 46 merit badges as well as being inducted into the Order of the Arrow and serving as Chaplain’s Aide for two year, a position he enjoys greatly; and WHEREAS Dakota’s most memorable Scout trip was to Europe, where he experienced a new culture and met many new friends; and WHEREAS Dakota identified that the Rita B. Huff Pet Adoption Center had been without a sign for a couple of years and built one for them for his Eagle Scout project; and WHEREAS the City of Huntsville is proud of Dakota Giddens, as he exemplifies the values that make a community strong. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, that March 4, 2017 be designated as: Dakota Giddens Day in Huntsville, Texas, and urge all citizens to join in the celebration of this achievement and acknowledge his special contributions to our community.
