PROCLAMATION
No. 2017-17
WHEREAS Americans’ ability to build a secure future for themselves and their families requires navigation of an increasingly complex financial system; and
WHEREAS it is in the best interests of our citizens to build the skills needed to manage their fiscal resources effectively and avoid being the victim of deceptive or predatory practices;
and
WHEREAS the SHSU Student Money Management Center is working with local individuals, businesses, and other entities to empower residents and their families to increase their financial
capability through education and access; and
WHEREAS we call upon all to observe this year’s theme of “Making Friends With Your Money” by participating in programs and activities to improve understanding of financial principles
and practices and increase their financial knowledge, skills, and strategies.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, that
April 2017
be designated as: Financial Literacy Month
in Huntsville, Texas, and urge all citizens to be knowledgeable about the consequences of their financial decisions.
