Proc. 2017-11 - Alex Artho Eagle Scout Day - 1-22-17 PROCLAMATION No. 2017-11 WHEREAS the conferring of the designation of Eagle Scout is one of the highest awards that can be bestowed upon a Boy Scout as it requires years of dedication and commitment to achieve, since Eagle Scouts act as leaders and role models in the community; and WHEREAS Alex Artho began scouting in 2007 and completed Wolf, Bear, and Webelos Ranks I and II, before crossing over to become a Boy Scout in 2011; and WHEREAS Alex is a member of Troop 114, and has earned 33 merit badges and his Religious Knot, as well as held the position of Assistant Patrol Leader for several years; and WHEREAS for Alex’s Eagle Scout Project, he built four permanent benches with metal frames and treated lumber for use by visitors and guests at the H.E.A.R.T.S. Veterans Museum of Texas and Conference Center in Huntsville, Texas; and WHEREAS the City of Huntsville is proud of Alex Artho, as he exemplifies the values that make a community strong. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, that January 22, 2017 be designated as: Alex Artho Day in Huntsville, Texas, and urge all citizens to join in the celebration of this achievement and acknowledge his special contributions to our community.
