Proc. 2019-35 - Huntsville Community Choir day, 5-19
PROCLAMATION
NO. 2019-35
WHEREAS the Huntsville Area Senior Adult Choir was formed in 1994 at University Heights Baptist Church, with First Baptist Church senior adults joinging soon after, singing at assisted
living facilities and other events around the area; and
WHEREAS the name changed to Huntsville Community Choir representing several churches in the area; and
WHEREAS over the years, the choir has averaged 30-35 members and enjoyed singing for the Angel Tree program, Veterans Memorial Services, TEBA Music Rallies held in other churches in
the area; and
WHEREAS the choir has been directed by several music directors over the past 25 years, Harley Rex has directed, taking a short break, returning to direct for several more years; the
choir is now directed by Cynthia Cross; and
WHEREAS Huntsville Community Choir loves to sing, for free, even for suppers, practicing weekly on Tuesday mornings at University Heights Baptist Church where is all began.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
May 14, 2019
be celebrated as the:
Huntsville Community Choir Day
in the City of Huntsville and call upon our citizens to celebrate a collaboration that continues to build and benefit music and ministry in Huntsville.
