PROCLAMATION
NO. 2019-34
WHEREAS Huntsville Enrichment Activities Program, or HEAP, will celebrate fifty years of service to the community in June 2019, having been organized by a small group of citizens who
wished to provide activities to children in the summertime; and
WHEREAS in that time, the HEAP has been recognized for being a visionary organization that features award-winning summer recreational and cultural programs; and
WHEREAS organizers, staff, and volunteers have been recognized as a long-standing tradition in Huntsville, with children from the early years now encouraging their grandchildren’s participation;
and
WHEREAS classes over the last fifty years have included reading, miniature golf, needlepoint, bowling, swimming, fencing, are, gymnastics, music, wilderness awareness, languages, science,
photography, cake decorating, ceramics, dance, karate, roller skating, soccer, tennis, theatre performances and so much more; and
WHEREAS HEAP continues to serve the community through a partnership between the City of Huntsville and Huntsville Independent School District, providing activities and meals, nurturing
the youth of our community, both physically and mentally.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:

be celebrated as the:
50th Anniversary of HEAP
in the City of Huntsville and call upon our citizens to celebrate a collaboration that continues to build and benefit our youth in experiencing the “sense of wonder in everyday life”.
