PROCLAMATION
No. 2019-28
WHEREAS Revered Dave Smith has spent the last 25 years in service to the ministry of Good Shepherd Mission, serving as the Executive Director; and
WHEREAS he has served faithfully, overseeing the day-to-day needs of individuals experiencing various levels of crisis and poverty, yet taking a holistic approach with each person to
help solve difficulties; and
WHEREAS Smith has overseen the Good Shepherd Mission’s annual budget, delivering a 5-to-1 ratio of monies donated to services rendered, having such a positive influence on people he
serves, that one became his assistant director; and
WHEREAS he gives 100 percent of his time and energy to being involved, learning to appreciate each soul as an amazing survivor, and bettering the population of our community; and
WHEREAS Smith continues to serve the underprivileged of Huntsville and Walker County with a smile, hug and dutifully message of endurance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that:
April 16th, 2019
be declared: DAVE SMITH DAY
in Huntsville, Texas, and encourage citizens to help honor Smith’s 25 years of service and the Good Shepherd Mission on May 4th during their Open House.
