Proc. 2019-19 - National Library Week - 4-19 PROCLAMATION NO. 2019-19 WHEREAS, Huntsville Public Library is not just about books but what they do for and with people; WHEREAS, Huntsville Public Library provides the resources, classes, and connections to educate and empower the heart of our community; WHEREAS, the Huntsville Public Library librarian and staff build strong communities through transformative services, programs and expertise, and have long served as a trusted and treasured institution where people of all backgrounds can be together and connect; WHEREAS, Huntsville Public Library promotes the free exchange of information and ideas for all, are cornerstones of democracy, and civic engagement by keeping people informed and aware of community events and issues; WHEREAS, Huntsville Public Library partners with other civic organizations to make sure their community’s needs are being met, proving itself a resource for all members of the community regardless of race, ethnicity, creed, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity or socio-economic status, by offering services and educational resources that transform lives and strengthen communities WHEREAS, libraries, librarians, library workers and supporters across America are celebrating National Library Week. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that: April 7-13, 2019 be declared: National Library Week in the City of Huntsville and encourage all residents to visit the Huntsville Public Library this week to explore what’s new and engage with the librarian and staff.
