Proc. 2020-14 - Boys II Men
Proclamation N0. 2020-14
WHEREAS Mance Park Middle School is the location of an organization of men dedicated to encouraging young boys to become accomplished young men through the Boys II Men organization;
and
WHEREAS Valry Allen worked in the school as a long-term substitute, enjoying his interaction with the students in the hallways, leading him to recognize the need for immediate attention
and action for the youth; and
WHEREAS Allen is a member of The Exceptional Men of the Talented Tenth Incorporated, acknowledging and owning his calling, and recognizing the desire to serve in his fellow staffs,
he attended Summer training, and discussed the needs on campus; and
WHEREAS from one conversation, came a spark for the youth that led to a business plan and approval, with three main focal points - learning business professional dress attire, learning
organizational/communication skills, and the importance of being active in the schools and the community – with 25 young men who are looking forward to a bright future, through the
leadership of their six dedicated mentors at Mance Park Middle School.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:

be declared: Boys II Men Day
in the City of Huntsville and call upon our citizens to recognize their spark and joy in assisting the young citizens of #HomeSweetHuntsville.
