PROCLAMATION
No. 2016-03
WHEREAS Emmett Solomon was the Director of Chaplains for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s; and
WHEREAS Mr. Solomon made a difference in the lives of many through his development of restorative justice ministry in our area; and
WHEREAS after leaving TDCJ, he served as Executive Director of the Restorative Justice Ministry Network for twenty years before retiring in 2014; and
WHEREAS many of those gathered today owe much to Emmett Solomon and his endeavors to offer a better future and peace of mind to the incarcerated and their families and communities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested
in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
November 7, 2015
be declared: “EMMETT SOLOMON DAY”
and encourage all citizens of Huntsville and Walker County to be aware of the tremendous efforts made by Emmett Solomon, and to strongly support the mission of the Restorative Justice
Ministry Network.
