That the elective office of City Secretary be and the ease is
hereby dispensed wilhe and on and after RoTeaber 1. 19WO the
Secretary shall be *looted by the City council of the City of
Huntsville.
Be it further ordained by said Council that it shall be the
duly of the city Secretary upon the written requisition of the

offiot al/person U siring to make such purchase or expenditure ,
and with consent of the mayor, to purchase all necessary supplies
and to authorise all expenditures of money, including expen+
ditures for labor, to attend every meeting of the Council, and
keep anoursts minutes of the proceedings thereof, in a book to
oe provided for that purpose, and to engross and enroll all
lariso resolutions and ordinances of the City council, to keep
the oorporato seal, to take charge of and to preserve and keep
in order, all books, recordo, pupors, documents and files of
said council, to countersign all eonuissionr issued to the city
officials and license issued by the mayor, and to keep a
reo )rd and register thoreof, and to Luke out rll notices required
under any regulation and ordinance of the City* he shall draw al ,
war-ants on the treasurer and countersign the same, and keep an
&COurate vocount thereof in a book to be provided for that purpose.

entry shall apply* He shall keep a register of bonds and bills
issued by the City, and all evidences of debt flue and payable to it
noting the partioulars thereof, and all parts connected therewith
as they occur. He shall carefully keep all contracts gads by the
city uounoil, and he shall do and perform all such other duties as
may be required of hi._ b law, ordinance, resolutions or orders
of the City Council. He shall collect all moneys due the City
for water rentals, street taxes, and fines and penalties Imposed
in the city courts and form any and all sources whatever. He shall
be ascessaor and collector of taxes, and shall make up the ass-
esagent of all property tax#O by the city, and on completion of
the same shall keep a copy of the same on file in his office.
He shall collect all &,axes due the city, and in the event of non-
payment of taxes shall proceed to sell property to raise the amount
of tuxes so due, and &.sill in the performance of his duties observe
the duties of title 17, of the Revised Civil Statutes of the State
of Texas , and the raendments thereto, and such ordinances of the
City as away be passed hereafter relating thereto. He shall at the
expiration of each and every week pay to the Treasurer to l money by
him collected and chill report to the city Council at the first
sa6ating iii every month all moneys so collected and paid, and he
shall perform all such other duties, and in such manner and a000rd W

Secretary is hereby authorized Uk ovu ers of all property subject

of his office shall take and subscribe the oath of office required
by the Constitution of this State, and shall execute bond in favor
of the City of Huntsville in such amount, and in such fors as may
