RESO CC 08/27/1974 - Canvassing Election returns RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF ELECTION THE STATE OF TEXAS § COUNTY OF WALKER § WHEREAS, there was held in and throughout the City of Huntsville, Texas , on the 27th day of August , 1974, an election at which there were submitted to the duly quali- fied resident electors of said City, the following prop- ositions : One, the issuance of $300, 000 waterworks system revenue bonds; Two, the issuance of $250,000 sanitary sewer system (South Huntsville laterals) revenue bonds; and Three, the issuance of $1 ,300, 000 sanitary sewer system (North Huntsville sewer plant) revenue bonds; and WHEREAS, there were cast at said election: 579 votes by the duly qualified resident electors of said City, of which number there were cast : PROPOSITION NO. ONE FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $300,000 WATERWORKS SYSTEM REVENUE BONDS 449 votes AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF $300,000 WATER- WORKS SYSTEM REVENUE BONDS 127 votes MAJORITY F 0 R THE ISSUANCE (For or Against) OF $300,000 WATERWORKS SYSTEM REVENUE BONDS 449 votes PROPOSITION NO. TWO FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $250,000 SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM (SOUTH HUNTSVILLE LATERALS) REVENUE BONDS 408 votes AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF $250,000 SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM (SOUTH HUNTSVILLE LATERALS) REVENUE BONDS 159 votes MAJORITY F 0 R THE ISSUANCE (For or Against) OF $250,000 SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM (SOUTH HUNTSVILLE LATERALS) REVENUE BONDS 408 votes PROPOSITION NO. THREE FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $1,300,000 SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM (NORTH HUNTSVILLE SEWER PLANT) REVENUE BONDS 424 votes AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF $1, 300,000 SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM (NORTH HUNTSVILLE SEWER PLANT) REVENUE BONDS 148 votes MAJORITY FO R THE ISSUANCE (For or Against) OF $1 ,300 ,000 SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM (NORTH HUNTSVILLE SEWER PLANT) REVENUE BONDS 424 votes as shown in the official election returns heretofore submitted to the City Council of said City and duly filed with the City Secretary of said City; and WHEREAS , said -election was called and held in all respects under and in strict conformity with the Constitution and laws of the State of Texas and the United States of America; There- fore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS : Section 1. That the election held in and throughout the City of Huntsville , Texas , on the 27th day of August , 1974 , which election is more particularly described in the preamble of this resolution, was duly called and notice thereof was given and said election was held under and in strict confor- mity with law; that the duly qualified resident electors of said City voted at said election; that due returns of said election have been made by the proper officers ; that said -2- election has resulted favorably to the issuance of the bonds described in the preamble to this resolution; and that a majority of the duly qualified voters voting at said election have voted in favor of the issuance of such bonds. Section 2 . That the City Council of said City is now authorized to issue all of such bonds described above, and that the City Council is authorized to do any and all things necessary and/or convenient in connction therewith. The City Council of the City of Huntsville, Texas, convened in REGULAR SESSION, open to the public , on the 27th day of August , 1974 , in the City Business Office within said City, and the roll was called of the duly constituted officers and members of said City Council and the City Secretary, to-wit : Morris I . That a true , full and correct copy of the aforesaid resolution adopted at the meeting described in the above and foregoing paragraph is attached to and follows this certificate; that said resolution has been duly recorded in said City Council ' s minutes of said meeting; that the above and foregoing paragraph is a true , full and correct excerpt from said City Council' s minutes of said meeting pertaining to the adoption of said resolution; that the persons named in the above and foregoing paragraph are the duly chosen, qualified and acting officers and members of said City Council as indicated therein; that each of the officers and members of said City Council was duly and sufficiently notified officially and personally, in advance , of the date, hour, place and subject of the aforesaid meeting, and that said resolution would be introduced and considered for adoption at said meeting, and each of said officers and members consented, in advance, to the holding of such meeting for such purpose; that said meeting was open to the public as required by law; and that public notice of the date, hour, place and subject of said meeting was given as required by Vernon' s Article 6252-17, as amended.
