AN ORDINANCE DETERMINING THAT A NECESSITY EXISTS FOR THE IM-
PROVEMENT OF CERTAIN STREETS WITHIN THE CORPORATED LIMITS OF
THE �CITY OF HUNTSVILLE , TEXAS , AUTHORIZING THE CITY ENGINEER
TO APPROVE AND FILE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR SUCH IMPROVE-
MENTS TOGETHER WITH ESTIMATES OF THE COST THEREOF, AND AUTHORI-
ZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A MECHANIC'S AND MATERIALMAN'S
AND PAVING LIENS CONTRACTS WITH ABUTTING PROPERTY OWNERS,
WHERE NECESSARY:
WHEREAS , the Texas Highway Department and the City
Engineer of the City of Huntsville, Texas, has made a survey
of improvements needed for certain streets within the corporate
limits of the City of Huntsville, Texas, and reported his
findings from time to time to the City Council and the Council
having considered all the evidence available has determined that
a necessity exists for improvements as recommended:
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE , TEXAS, that the City Council in regular
session has determined, and here finds that a necessity exists
for the paving and improving of certain streets within the
corporate limits of the City of Huntsville, Texas, as more
particularly described as follows:
A. To widen, pave and improve Sam Houston Avenue, South'
from its intersection with 11th Street to a defined point South
of its intersection with Sycamore Street for a total distance
of 8596 feet.
Be it further ordained that said project be a joint
project between the State of Texas and said City of Huntsville,
in accordance with plans and specifications prepared by the Texas
Highway Department and the City Engineer of the City of Huntsville,
Texas. The said City Engineer, is hereby directed to prepare and
file with the City Council said plans and specifications for such
work and preliminary estimates of the cost thereof where applicable
to the City of Huntsville, Texas. It is further ordained that the
Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas , be, and he is hereby
authorized to enter into Mechanic' s and Materialman' s and Paving
Lien Contracts with abutting property owners, where applicable,
in accordance with this Ordinance and in accordance with Ordi-
nances to be hereinafter inacted for such paving and improvements
of such streets.
