Proc. 2012-17 Evie Wilson Larrison Wooten Day 01-19-12PROCLAMATION NO. 2012-17 WHEREAS Evie Wilson was born to Francis Claude Wilson and Dora Euphena Kay in Leon County on January 19, 1902; and WHEREAS she married Finis Larrison, Sr. in 1919 and came with him to Walker County in 1927, where she has lived ever since; and WHEREAS after having children, Evie owned and operated the Larrison Grocery Store, was appointed postmaster of the Phelps Post Office in 1937, and married J. B. Wooten in 1959; and WHEREAS she raised four children, including the late Blandine Zachry of California, and sons Finis, Joe, and Jeff, who reside in Huntsville and Phelps, who have blessed her with nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and twenty-five great-great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS Evie has always enjoyed meeting people and taking part in community activities, especially those involving her faith and her family or when helping others through difficult times. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that: January 19, 2012 be declared: "Evie Wilson Larrison Wooten Day" in the City of Huntsville and call upon our citizens tojoin in the celebration of her long life and special contributions as a member of our C0171171unity.
