ORD CC 1980-11 - Speed Zones1 ORDINANCE NO. 80-11 AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO SPEED ZONES WHICH SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATES ADDITIONAL AREAS IN THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE IN WHICH RATES OF SPEED OF THIRTY (30) MILES PER HOUR OR MORE ARE AUTHORIZED; RESCINDING ALL PARTS OF ORDI- NANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND DECLARING THAT ATTENDANT FACTS NECESSITATE IMMEDIATE ACTION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE: SECTION 1. That any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances relating to speed zones on State Highway 19 in the City of Huntsville are hereby rescinded, and the following are additional specifically designated areas in which a rate of speed of thirty (30) miles per hour or more is authorized. (a) State Highway 19, for traffic moving in a southerly direction for the first 0.200 mile from the north city limit of Huntsville the speed limit shall be fifty-five (55) miles per hour. For the next 0.912 mile the speed limit shall be fifty (50) miles per hour to the intersection with State Highway 30. For the next 0.118 mile from the intersection with State Highway 30 the speed limit shall be forty-five (45) miles per hour to the south city limit of Huntsville. For the next 2.256 mile the speed limit shall be established by Highway Commission Minute Order or by State law regulating speed limits, said section being outside the corporate limits of the City of Huntsville. Commencing in a southerly direction from the north city limit of Huntsville, for the next 1.-304 mile, the speed limit shall be fifty-five (55) miles per_ hour to the- south city limit of Huntsville. Page 1 of 3 • For traffic moving in a northerly direction, for the first 1.375 mile from the south city limit of Huntsville, the speed limit shall be fifty -five (55) miles per hour to the north city limit of Huntsville. For the next 2.256 mile the speed limit shall be established by Highway Commission Minute Order or by State law regulating speed limits, said section being outside the corporate limits of the City of Huntsville. Commencing in a northerly direction from the south city limit of Huntsville for the next 0.118 mile the speed limit shall be forty -five (45) miles per hour to the intersection with State High- way 30. For the next 0.912 mile from the inter- section with State Highway 30 the speed limit shall be fifty (50) miles per hour. For the next 0.200 mile the speed limit shall be fifty -five (55) miles per hour to the north city limit of Huntsville. Page 2 of 3 • b. .411, 4 4 • SECTION II: WHEREAS, the preservation of the general welfare of the public necessitates immediate action, this Ordinance shall be effective from and after the date of its passage as provided by the Charter of the City of Huntsville.
