ORDINANCE 2012-43
AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO SPEED ZONES WHICH SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATES
ADDITIONAL AREAS IN THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE IN WHICH RATES OF SPEED OF THIRTY(30)
MILES PER HOUR OR MORE ARE AUTHORIZED; RESCINDING ALL PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND DECLARING THAT ATTENDANT FACTS NECESSITATE
IMMEDIATE ACTION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE:
SECTION I. That any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances relating to speed zones on Interstate 45 West Frontage Road in
the City of Huntsville are hereby rescinded, and the following are additional specifically designated areas in which a rate of
speed of thirty(30)miles per hour or more is authorized.
A.) A) I-45, for traffic moving in a southerly direction, for the first 1.345 miles, from the Huntsville northern city
limit to the intersection with Spur 59, the speed limit shall be sixty (60) miles per hour. From the
intersection of FM 1791, for 1.548 miles, the speed limit shall be fifty (50) miles per hour. For the
next 1.051 miles,the speed limit shall be forty-five(45)miles per hour. For the next 1.757 miles, the
speed limit shall be fifty (50) miles per hour. For the next 4.800 miles, to the Huntsville southern
city limit, the speed limit shall be fifty-five(55)miles per hour.
B)I-45, for traffic moving in a northerly direction, for the first 3.201 miles, from the Huntsville southern city
limit to the intersection with Veterans Memorial Parkway, the speed limit shall be fifty-five (55)
miles per hour. From the intersection with Spur 59 for 1.345 miles, to the Huntsville northern city
limit, the speed limit shall be sixty(60)miles per hour.
SECTION II: WHEREAS, the preservation of the general welfare of the public necessitates immediate action, this Ordinance
shall be effective from and after the date of its passage as provided by the Charter of the City of Huntsville.

East and West Frontage Roads in the city of Huntsville.
Attached are two (2) copies of each ordinance and one(1) copy of each speed zone strip map
for the IH 45 East and West Frontage Roads. When the city council has taken action on these
ordinances, please return one (1)executed copy of each ordinance, with the embossed City
Secretary seal and original signatures,to our office and keep one for your files. The copies of
the speed zone strip maps are for your information and files.
