NO. 2013-06
WHEREAS the Noel Monique Shorten and Jason Tyrell Stewart, II Memorial
Scholarship was established in 2009 to assist promising students
with a passion for education; and
WHEREAS the third annual 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament entitled "Shoot for
the Future"will be held on October 27 in order to raise money for the
NMS-J2 Memorial Scholarship; and
WHEREAS the memorial scholarship will be awarded to a highly deserving high
school senior on the bases of academic merit,good character,service
to others and financial needs; and
WHEREAS the City of Huntsville values both the lives of its citizens and the
passion for education required to attain the scholarship.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as
Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
October 27, 2012
be declared:
"Noel Monique Shorten and Jason Tyrell Stewart, II Day"
in the City of Huntsville,and call upon our citizens to join in this tournament and contribute to
this memorial scholarship.
