WHEREAS the family and descendants of Eddie and Charlie Oliphant have long been and
continue to be important members of the Huntsville-Walker County community;
and
WHEREAS for fifty years the Oliphant family has gathered on the third Sunday in September
in the same location to celebrate their heritage and rich customs; and
WHEREAS the two brothers would be extremely proud of their family, their many
accomplishments, and the torch of tradition that has been passed on from
generation to generation; and
WHEREAS it is with elation and deep gratitude that the family now celebrates the 50th Oliphant
Family Reunion.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as
Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
SEPTEMBER 16, 2012
be declared:
OLIPHANT FAMILY REUNION DAY
in the City of Huntsville and urge all residents to join in celebrating this joyous occasion.
