WHEREAS in 1912,families in the Pine Prairie community traveled eight to ten
miles by wagon to attend the Free Will Baptist Church in Falba,
highlighting the need for a church of their own; and
WHEREAS Reverend George Robertson was the first pastor of the new Pine Prairie
Free Will Baptist Church established in August 1912; and
WHEREAS church facilities were built in 1937, in 1952 under the leadership of H.
Ray Berry, on donated land, and most recently in 2007; and
WHEREAS today we celebrate with the congregation the 100"i Anniversary of the
Pine Prairie Free Will Baptist Church.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as
the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that:
JUNE 2, 2012
be declared:
"Pine Prairie Free Will Baptist Church Day"
in Huntsville, Texas, and encourage citizens to congratulate this organization on
their century of friendship and fellowship in our community.
