ORD CC 05/29/46 - Levying TaxesAN ORDINANCE LEVYING TAXES UPON TACABLE PROPERTY LOCATED WITHIN AND SUBJECT TO TEXATION IN THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, INCLUDING A POLL TAX IN ABLE BODIED CITIZENS OVER THE AGE OF TWENTY - ONE YEARS, AND NOT OVER SIXTY YEARS OF AGE ON TIE FIRST DAY. OF JANUARY, 1946 AND ALSO INCLUDING OCCUPATION TAXES, AND DECLARING AN EITERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY O.UNCIL OF THE CITY OF HU_ti SVILLE IN COUNCIL ASSEMBLED. SECTION ONE: T'1at there is hereby levied, for the current year on all real property situated and all personal property owned within the limits of said City-of Huntsville, Texas, on the first day of January 1946 except so much as may be excepted under the constitution and laws of this State or the United States, the Following taxes. (1). An advalorem tax of and at the rate of 50 cents on the One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars cash Value thereof, estimated in lawful currency of the United States for the current expenses for the support and maintenance of the City Government of said City of Huntsville, Texas. (2). An advalorem tax of and at the rate of 75 cents on the One Hundred Dollars, *(100.00) cash value thereof estimated inlawful currency of the United States, to pay current interest on and provide one Year's sinking fund and to pay all of the principal and interest accuring on all outstanding Warrants, sewerage, bonds, paving bonds, Funding Warrants, Sewer Extension, Improvement Bonds, and Warrants, City Hall and Fire Station Warrants, and any and all other bonds and Warrants outstanding therefore lawfully is:-ued by the City of Huntsville, Texas, and which are now valid outstanding obligations of the said City of Huntsville, Texas. (3). An annual advalorem tax of and at the rate of cents on the One Hundred Dollars cash value thereof, estimated in lawful currency of the United States, for the purpose of the support and maintenance of the Fire Department authorized by law at an election held thereunder and the ordinance of the City of Huntsville, Texas. (4). An occupation toy on all person, firas and oorporations doing business within the City of Huntsville, Texas equal to one-half of that provided by law for occupation tax due and payable to the State of Texas, and including all amendments of Article 7047 of the Revised Statutes of 1925, and other amendments thereto. (5). A poll tax of One 01.00) Dollar on every inhabitant of Said City of Huntsville, Texas over the age of Twentypone (21) years and not over sixty (60) years of age in the first day of January. PSECTION TWO: The above and foregoing ordinance was referred to the Finance Committee on cpen Council at the Regular Recessed meeting of the City Council held on the jLZday of 1946.
