AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO SPEED ZONES WHICH
SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATES ADDITIONAL AREAS IN
THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE IN WHICH RATES OF SPEED
OF THIRTY (30) MILES PER HOUR OR MORE ARE
AUTHORIZED; RESCINDING ALL PARTS OF ORDI-
NANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND DECLARING
THAT ATTENDANT FACTS NECESSITATE IMMEDIATE
ACTION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE
SECTION I. That any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances re-
lating to speed zones on FM 2821 in the City of Huntsville are hereby
rescinded, and the following are additional specifically designated
areas in which a rate of speed of thirty (30) miles per hour or more
is authorized.
(a) FM 2821, for traffic moving in an easterly direction
for the first 0.200 mile from the intersection with
US 75 the speed limit shall be forty (40) mile per
hour. For the next 0.250 mile the speed limit shall
be fifty (50) miles per hour. For the next 1.150
mile the speed limit shall be fifty -five (55) miles
per hour. For the next 0.400 mile the speed limit
shall be forty -five (45) miles per hour. For the
next 0.900 mile the speed limit shall be fifty -five
(55) miles per hour. Within the limits of said
fifty -five (55) miles per hour speed zone beginning
at a point approximately 3,150 feet east of the
intersection of FM 247 and FM 2821 and continuing in

an easterly direction for a distance of approxi-
mately 1,650 feet the speed limit shall be thirty-
five (35) miles per hour when so signed for school
zone. For the next 0.200 mile the speed limit
shall be fifty (50) miles per hour. For the next
0.381 mile to the East City Limit of Huntsville the
speed limit shall be forty-five (45) miles per hour.
For traffic moving in a westerly direction, for the
firgt 0.381 mile from the East City Limit of Hunts-
ville the speed limit shall be forty-five (45) miles
per hour. For the next 0.200 mile the speed limit
shall be fifty (50) miles per hour. For the next
0.900 mile the speed limit shall be fifty-five (55)
miles per hour. Within the limits of said fifty-
five (55) miles per hour speed zone beginning at a
point approximately 4,800 feet east of the inter-
section of FM 247 and FM 2821 and continuing in a
westerly direction for a distance of 1,650 feet the
speed limit shall be thirty-five (35) miles per hour
when so signed for school zone. For the next 0.400
mile the speed limit shall be forty-five (45) miles
per hour. For the next 1.150 mile the speed limit
shall be fifty-five (55) miles per hour. For the
next 0.250 mile the speed limit shall be fifty (50)

section with US 75 the speed limit shall be forty (40)
miles per hour.
SECTION II: WHEREAS, the preservation of the general welfare of the
public necessitates immediate action, this Ordinance shall be effective
from and after the date of its passage as provided by the Charter of
the City of Huntsville.
