AN ORDINANCE BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 12 OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE
BY AMENDING SUBSECTION (a) OF SECTION 12 -11,
SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATING ADDITIONAL AREAS WITHIN
THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, IN WHICH RATES OF
SPEED OF 30 MILES PER HOUR OR MORE ARE AUTHORIZED;
RESCINDING ALL PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH; AND DECLARING THAT ATTENDANT FACTS
NECESSITATE IMMEDIATE ACTION.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Huntsville,
Texas, that subsection (a) of Section 12 -11 of Chapter 12 of the
Code of Ordinances of the City of Huntsville, Texas, be amended
and which section shall read as follows:
Sec. 12 -11. Same -on specific streets and highways.
Any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances relating to
speed zones on state highways in the City are hereby rescinded,
and the following are additional specifically designated areas
in which a rate of speed of 30 miles per hour or more is authorized:
(a) US 75, for traffic moving in a Southerly direction for the
first 0.350 mile from the North city limit of Huntsville, the
speed limit shall be fifty -five (55) miles per hour. For the
next 0.397 mile the speed limit shall be fifty (50) miles per
hour. For the next 0.200 mile the speed limit shall be forty -
five (45) miles per hour. For the next 0.450 mile the speed
limit shall be fifty (50) miles per hour. For the next 1.420
mile the speed limit shall be forty -five (45) miles per hour.
For the next 0.268 mile the speed limit shall be forty (40)
miles per hour. For the next 1.440 mile the speed limit shall
be thirty (30) miles per hour. For the next 0.845 mile the
speed limit shall be thirty -five (35) miles per hour. For
the next 0.200 mile the speed limit shall be forty (40) miles
per hour. For the next 0.600 mile the speed limit shall be
fifty (50) miles per hour. For the next 1.057 mile to the
South City Limit of Huntsville the speed limit shall be
fifty -five (55) miles per hour. For traffic moving in a
Northerly direction, for the first 1,057 mile 'from the South
city limit of Huntsville, the speed limit shall be fifty -five
(55) miles per hour.. For the next 0.600 mile the speed limit
shall be fifty.(50) miles per hour. For the next 0.200 mile

the speed limit shall be forty (40) miles per hour. For the
next 0.845 mile the speed limit shall be thirty-five (35)
miles per hour. For the next 1.440 mile the speed limit
shall be thirty (30) miles per hour. For the next 0.268
mile the speed limit shall be forty (40) miles per hour.
For the next 1.420 mile the speed limit shall be forty-
five (45) miles per hour. For the next 0.450 mile the
speed limit shall be fifty (50) miles per hour. For the
next 0.200 mile the speed limit shall be forty-five (45)
miles per hour. For the next 0.395 mile the speed limit shall
be fifty (50) miles per hour. For the next 0.350 mile, to
the North city limit of Huntsville, the speed limit shall be
fifty-five (55) miles per hour.
WHEREAS, the preservation of the general welfare of the public
necessitates immediate action, this ordinance shall be effective
from and after the date of its passage as provided by the Charter
of the City of Huntsville.
