ORD CC 11/28/78 - Speed ZonesORDINANCE NO.78 -1 8 AN ORDINANCE BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE BY ADDING A NEW SECTION TO BE NUMBERED SUBSECTION F OF SECTION 12 -11 RELATING TO A SPEED ZONE WHICH SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATES AN ADDITIONAL AREA IN THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE IN WHICH RATES OF SPEED OF 30 MILES PER HOUR OR MORE ARE AUTHORIZED; RESCINDING ALL PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND DECLARING THAT ATTENDANT FACTS NECESSITATE IMMEDIATE ACTION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that Chapter 12 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Huntsville, Texas, be amended by the addition of subsection F to section 12 -11, and which new section shall read as follows: Section 12 -11. Same -on specific streets and highways. (f) IH 45 East frontage road, for traffic moving in a Southerly direction for the first 0.289 mile from the North City limit of Huntsville, the speed limit shall be fifty -five (55) miles per hour. For the next 0.320 mile the speed limit shall be fifty (50) miles per. hour. For the next 0.270 mile the speed limit shall be forty five (45) miles per hour to the intersection with US 75. For traffic moving in a Northerly direction, for the first 0.270 mile from the intersection with US 75, the speed limit shall be forty -five (45 miles per hour. For the next 0.320 mile the speed limit shall be fifty (50) miles per hour. For the next 0.289 mile, to the North City limit of Huntsville, the speed limit shall be fifty -five (55) miles per hour. WHEREAS, the preservation of the general welfare of the public necessitates immediate action, this ordinance shall be effective from and after the date of its passage as provided by the Charter of the City of Huntsville, Texas. 1978.
